Our interventionists are trained in EBLI (Evidence-Based Literacy Instruction), a Structured Linguistic Phonics (Speech-to-Print) approach. We aim to quickly equip students with the tools they need to become independent readers, so they can continue learning with minimal support.Beyond our training, we prioritize consistency and quality. We offer fair compensation and a supportive work environment to retain skilled interventionists, ensuring your child isn't shuffled between tutors. Once enrolled, your student has a secure spot with us until graduation or an extended break.We offer small 1:1 or 1:2 sessions with instruction tailored to your student's needs. As professionals, we take full responsibility for ensuring learning happens during our time together. You won’t be sent home with workbooks or homework packets to manage on your own (unless you really want them). At home, we encourage you to read with your child and listen to them read—we’ll handle the heavy lifting.

Our tuition model is based on the average number of classes a student attends weekly. Prices range from $240 a month for one class a week, to $456 a month for two classes a week. Discounts are available for on-time, upfront payments (5% off the above tuitions), siblings, and 2:1 classes. If we are training new tutors or have a junior (teen) interventionist available, we will also offer discounts on those tuitions.Lit Up Literacy operates on a tuition model from September through June. Families pay the same price each month, which is set based on the average number of classes a student is signed up for each week. Most students attend either 1 or 2 sessions each week. Sessions are 50 minutes long.In July and August we offer class packages and flexible booking.

Every child is different, and this applies to learning to read and write as well.We recommend parents start by setting a clear goal of what "done" looks like. As Dr. Mark Seidenberg puts it, “We need to get kids to escape velocity, we don’t need to take them to the moon.” Once students reach a certain level of understanding, they begin to self-teach and no longer need explicit instruction for every grapheme or phoneme.We assess progress regularly and provide feedback on what your child has covered. We'll let you know when we believe your child is ready to work more independently.You can typically expect to see progress within a few months of weekly lessons. We often see students tackling grade-level text with minimal support around 40 hours of instruction. Students with significant reading difficulties or conditions such as ADHD or ASD may require more time.We teach reading, spelling, and writing. Spelling will take longer to master, and we don't necessarily recommend students stay with intervention to do so. We can provide that instruction, or offer tips and strategies to help you support your student at home.

Lit Up Literacy offers lessons online worldwide. We are also in Fredericton, New Brunswick (Canada) at 1149 Smythe Street, Suite 2D.

We provide personalized, interactive, in-person (in Fredericton, NB) or online (worldwide) tutoring in reading, writing, handwriting, and spelling, tailored to meet the individual needs of students, particularly those with dyslexia and learning disabilities.Our sessions are currently only available in English.
